Overview

Fred Dispense Plus is compatible with any email client that supports MAPI. This article explains how to configure an email client with Fred Dispense Plus so that documents can be attached to an email directly from the software.

Outlook (Classic) works with Fred Dispense Plus, but Microsoft has not added MAPI support to Outlook (New) as of May 2025. Other compatible email clients that support MAPI include Thunderbird: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/.

Steps

1. Install an email client on the terminal where you want to send emails from.
2. Add an email account of your choice to the email client.
3. In Windows Settings, configure your installed email client as the default program for email. For more details, refer to the Microsoft Support article Make Outlook the default program for email, contacts, and calendar.
4. When emailing documents from Fred Dispense Plus, the document is automatically attached to the new email.
