Fred Dispense
Issue
Dispensing an Extemporaneous script returns PBS rejection R 281 - 'This exceptionally priced prescription is not twice the average price.'
Cause
Some extemporaneous items have an average wholesale cost which are updated each month by Services Australia. See Average rates payable for extemporaneous items on Services Australia website.
Fred Dispense will automatically calculate the correct government recovery and patient price based on the current monthly average wholesale cost for a claimable extemporaneous script.
If users have determined that their compound is more expensive and should be priced greater than the default price, PBS will only allow price adjustment if the new calculated price is at least twice that of the default price.
Otherwise, the R 281 rejection will be returned.
Resolution
Reset the calculated price by switching to a different drug and then switching back - this will reset the Extemporaneous Price Override with the current PBS calculated figure.
