Set up a report or repeat printer profile

Overview

This guide provides the steps for setting up a Report (A4) or Repeat (A5) printer profile. You can also follow these steps for setting up a printer for general printing purposes.

Steps

1. Remove the printer from its box and connect it to the PC.
2. Download and extract the printer driver. Most of the printer manufacturers have printer drivers available to download from their website. Here are some common manufacturer support links:
   • Kyocera: https://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.com.au/support-centre/downloads
   • Brother: https://www.brother.com.au/en/support
   • HP: https://support.hp.com/au-en/drivers/printers
3. Go to Control Panel, then Devices and Printers. Here are some ways to access it:
   • Windows 10: From the Windows menu, select Run, then enter control printers and click OK.
   • Windows 11: From the Windows menu, select Settings, then Bluetooth & Devices, then Devices, then More devices and printer settings.
4. Select Add a printer, then select The printer that I want isn't listed.
5. Select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings, then click Next.
   
6. Select Use an existing port, choose the relevant port for your USB connected printer, then select Next.
7. Select the printer Manufacturer from the left and then select the printer model from the right:
   
   If the printer you are installing does not display under the Printers list, click Have Disk and browse to the folder where you have downloaded and extracted the printer driver from Step 2 above.
8. Enter a printer name for the printer profile you are installing. For example:
   • FredReport for Dispense report/receipt printing
   • FredRepeat for A5 repeat printing
9. Allocate the printer paper size and source.
10. Once the printer profile is setup, right click on the printer you have setup, and select Printer properties:
    
    If you have already setup another profile it may have multiple profiles and would look like:
    
    You will need to select the correct profile you are setting up.
11. Select Device Settings, assign any additional paper feeders you have also installed for the printer you are setting up:

12. Then under General tab, select Preferences.
    1. Apply the correct paper for the profile you are setting up.
       For example, select A4 for Report or A5 for Repeat.
    2. Next, select the correct paper Source and click OK to complete the setup. Repeat these steps for any other printer profile for different size and source.
       
13. Select the printer in your dispensing software:
    • Fred Dispense: From the Setup menu, select System Configuration, then under either Repeat Printer or Report Printer, select Printer Name (defined above) and Printer Type.
    • Fred Dispense Plus: From the Setup menu, select Printer Settings, then under either Repeat Printer or Report Printer, select Printer Name (defined above). Make sure that the Printer option is selected and Save.
