The information below is designed to enable Fred customers who choose to self-manage and/or monitor the pharmacy's own backup solution to ensure that the required files are included so that they can be recovered in the event of a disaster. This guide covers all Fred Products, please refer to the information for the products applicable to your pharmacy.

When choosing your own backup software, it is recommended to find a solution that covers key points in protecting your data.
- Data encryption / malware protection.
- Ability to schedule incremental 30-minute backup (during trading hours).
- Allows for monitoring and reporting.
- Support for multiple backup targets.
- Backup validation.
- Cloud backup that data is stored in Australia.

What files do I need to back up?
It is important to perform the backup on the correct computer and include the correct files and folders (directories). Follow the tips below for the relevant Fred software.
Fred Dispense
First, you'll need to identify the computer that is the Main Fred Dispense.
Open Fred Dispense on the Computer hosting the store's main data. You can confirm this by following the steps below:
- Open the Help Menu, then select About Fred Dispense.
- Scroll to the Station field.
- Confirm that the value is MAIN.
If value is TERMINAL, repeat the process until the main machine is identified. If required, please contact a Fred Help Consultant to assist with identifying the store's data location.
The Drive:\Directory listed in the Current Directory field is required to be included in your backup solution.
In this example the data required for backup would be E:\DATA.
Fred Dispense Plus, Fred Office Plus and Fred POS/Fred POS Plus
First, you'll need to identify the computer that hosts Microsoft SQL Server.
- Open Fred Office Plus, and at the login screen note the server name.
- Configure your backup solution to include the below databases where applicable.
If the pharmacy uses Fred Dispense Plus with another vendor's software for POS/Office, please contact a Fred Help Consultant to assist with identifying the store's data location.
