Negative profit and stock on hand for extemporaneous drug items

Overview

This article outlines how to address negative profit and stock on hand reporting issues in Fred Office Plus for item cards associated with extemporaneous drugs.

Steps

1. In Fred Office Plus, go to Inventory, then select Drugs.
2. Next, enter the drug code for the extemporaneous item. In this example, enter CREA1 for Cream.
   
   Here are the drug codes for common extemporaneous drugs:
   • CREA1 (Cream)
   • OINT1 (Ointment, Waxes)
   • MIXT1 (Mixture)
3. Click the drug, then go to Item and click View.
   
4. Update the Item Description, make sure Retail and Cost Ex are $0.01 and set the Item Type to ‘Non-Inventory'.
   
   All future extemporaneous dispensing of Cream will no longer result in negative profit or stock on hand.
